Pete Abraham @peteabe · 2h Alex Cora has a "Los Celtics" t-shirt on this morning.
He and "a lot" of the Sox players are going to Game 6 tonight. The Cardinals, who have a day off in Boston before the weekend series, have a suite. Albert Pujols made the arrangements.

Pete Abraham @peteabe · 20m Hill goes 5 2/3 and leaves trailing 3-1.
Misplayed popup in the 3rd inning was a killer. Could have been bases empty, two outs. Instead led to three runs.
Devers made a terrific grab of a line drive to start the inning. Then a sharp ground ball through the wickets scored a run.

Trevor Story unable to catch fly ball, K’s three times in Boston Red Sox’s loss to Athletics Updated: Jun. 16, 2022, 5:17 p.m. | Published: Jun. 16, 2022, 4:50 p.m.

BOSTON — Trevor Story called for Cristian Pache’s 218-foot fly ball into shallow center field. But he couldn’t make the catch.
What should have been the second out of the third inning turned into a double that started a three-run rally.
Story also went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and three left on base. The Red Sox lost 4-3 to the Athletics here at Fenway Park.
Alex Verdugo also went 0-for-5 and left five on base.
Boston was unable to finish off the season series sweep of the Athletics who they took five of six games against this year.
Story had a bad day overall. He also couldn’t get the ball out of his glove to make a throw to first base on Jonah Bride’s grounder to second base in the fourth.
The A’s stroked four straight hits beginning with Pache’s double. Chad Pinder singled, Ramón Laureano doubled and Christian Bethancourt singled.
Boston struggled defensively. Rafael Devers made a nice diving catch to his left side on Sean Murphy’s lineout to begin the sixth. But then Elvis Andrus’ 97.7 mph ground ball went right through Devers’ legs with two outs, allowing Seth Brown to score from second base. That made it 4-1 Oakland.
Red Sox cut deficit to one run in eighth
It looked like the end of the eighth inning when Rafael Devers grounded softly to third baseman Jonah Bride.
But Bride’s throw to first base was wild, allowing Rob Refsnyder to score.
J.D. Martinez’s infield RBI single then cut the deficit to 4-3.
But the rally ended when Xander Bogaerts grounded out to third base with runners at the corners.
Hill tosses 5.2 innings
Hill tossed 5 ⅔ innings, allowing four runs (three earned), four hits and no walks while striking out four. His line could have looked much different had Story caught Pache’s fly ball for the second out of the third inning.
Friday’s game
Red Sox righty Michael Wacha (4-1, 2.33 ERA) will start vs. his former team, the St. Louis Cardinals, Friday here at Fenway Park. Right-hander Adam Wainwright (5-4, 2.84 ERA) will start for St. Louis.

Red Sox Stats @redsoxstats · 53m I hate the stupid "the Red Sox aren't beating anyone with a winning record" tweets. We've been beating up on our direct competitors we're fighting for a playoff spot with (SEA x2, LAA, CWS, TEX, and soon CLE). The Sox buried them under .500 while jumping them into a playoff spot.

Red Sox Stats @redsoxstats · 6h Manfred should force John Fisher to sell the A's, absolute disgrace if that guy is handed a new ballpark in Oakland or Vegas.
Bill Koch @billkoch25 · 6h Baseball would be a much better game without John Fisher and.....five other owners? Maybe 10?
That's a problem. And it's not getting any better. Rob Manfred is a phony and no one is looking after the game's general welfare. These writers are so ignorant. Number of times in the playoffs in the past 10 years: NYY 7 OAK 6 HOU 6 BOS 5 CLE 5 TBR 4 DET 3 BAL 3 TOR 3 MIN 3 TEX 3 KCR 2 CHW 2 LAA 0 SEA 0 So the writer wants the small-market team with the 2nd most playoffs in the past ten years to be forced out. And Toronto, LAA, and the WS, with huge markets, have less combined playoffs spots, well, they're okay? LAA has the best player of his generation, and LAA never makes the playoffs, but Oakland is the problem?
