The Sox were likely to lose a series at one point or another. Sadly, it came at a very inopportune time.
Also sadly, I'm just not feeling good about tonight's game.
Please prove me wrong, Red Sox. Thank you for proving me wrong Red Sox. It was a little touchy there, but the Sox prevailed. I couldn't bear another late loss by the bullpen and all the tweets about how Houck turned his back on his teammates.
I would have liked to win the series, but I'll settle for 1 of 3. Those were some good games to watch, despite the brutal losses.

Ian Browne @ianmbrowne · 40m "What a bad interview. I was horrible." -- Alex Cora, on WEEI, assessing his performance with the media after Tuesday's loss in Toronto. LOL I did not hear the interview, but as far as I know, Cora has never been horrible in an interview. I wonder what he said that makes him think this? Is it the "I'm the manager" comment?

Alex Speier @alexspeier · 16m Cora says when the Sox return to Toronto in September, “I’ll bet you $1 it will be different” with vaccination status of roster
Cora says the conversations with the roster have remained ongoing this year and strongly, strongly implied that some of the players not available this time around will be able to play in September (and, if needed, the playoffs) in Canada.
Cora said decision about whether Whitlock returns as a starter or reliever will be based on what will be best for his health. I would be happy if all of our players are vaccinated, but I don't think it's right that they were criticized to the point where they feel coerced into doing it.

Not the word I used to describe it Ian Browne @ianmbrowne · 2h Interesting that Story, who hit a homer last night, is out of the lineup. Cora wants to give Story 2 days in a row off. I get that. I understand resting players, just not resting 2 or 3 key guys in the same game.

There was never going to be an easy answer, but I was hoping to see Schreiber in the 9th. I can't argue against using him against Vlad, Hernandez & Gurriel, but I also don't like out 9th inning options. Schreiber is the guy I think most of us have the most confidence in right now. Unfortunately, with the scores of the games being so close, every inning is a high leverage. With Houck unavailable, it seems that Cora likes to go with matchups. I'm not sure why Cora doesn't go with Schreiber for more than one inning.
Strahm in the 10th was very dicey, but thankfully, he held on.

What does he think? That managers change the players' days off based on the result from the previous game? He's had one game off in about the last month. So Cora gives him a day off, as he often does on the turf in TO. These things are probably planned weeks in advance. To Cora's credit, he did not change his plan based on the losses from the previous two nights. As much as we'd like to see the best line up in there every game, the players would likely be toast by September if Cora didn't give them ample rest. We have to remember that the season is a marathon. Tito said it best, don't go chasing wins.

Bill Koch @billkoch25 · 4h
Red Sox are 43-33. Felt like they really needed that one after Tuesday's mess.
Gritty from Nick Pivetta and Matt Strahm carrying the load on the mound. Alex Verdugo was clutch at the plate. It wasn't a must win game, but for the sake of my emotional well being, we really needed that one. LOL

Jon Couture @joncouture · 4h The #RedSox have mostly reverted to their early season form in Toronto, so it's only natural Alex Verdugo would save the day offensively. Thank you Alex Verdugo and Franchy Cordero. Also, nice at bats by Vazquez. Our big 3 was more or less MIA that game.

Thank you Alex Verdugo and Franchy Cordero. Also, nice at bats by Vazquez. Our big 3 was more or less MIA that game. All of the sudden, some of our recent trades are looking much better. We didn't get much for Benny almost a year and a half. Now Wink is 3-1 and Franchy has as many XBH as Benny, in about half the ABs. A month ago, the RS writers were penning odes to Betts, And now, Verdugo has a .905 OPS this month, albeit a high BABIP.
