Game 95: Red Sox look to rebound from historic loss to Blue Jays, plus lineups and notesBy Amin Touri Globe Staff,Updated July 23, 2022, 46 minutes ago Nowhere to go but up. After one of the worst defeats in franchise history on Friday night, the Red Sox will look to bounce back against the Blue Jays at Fenway on Saturday afternoon. Kutter Crawford has an easy act to follow after Boston surrendered a franchise-worst 28 runs in the series opener. The rookie righthander will make his first career start against Toronto, having allowed four earned runs over 16 ⅓ innings in his last three starts, all against AL East opposition. Alek Manoah will take the ball for the Blue Jays, and the first-time All-Star has been trouble for the Sox; he’s 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in four career starts against Boston.Lineups BLUE JAYS (51-43): 1. Dan Shaughnessy Retweeted Jared Carrabis @jared_Carrabis · 6h I cannot f%^%%$$ believe they’re playing Sweet Caroline right now. I’d rather hear MMMBop but the Kidz Bop version. That's because Shank is a loser. You don't give up on your culture when things go sideways.

Tony Massarotti @tonymassarotti · 6h Entering the ninth inning tonight, the Red Sox have struck out 31 times in their last two games - without drawing a walk. I'm always surprised when a RS writer mentions something other than the obvious. The pitching has sucked, but that's an inevitable result of losing much of our rotation. But we've also only scored 25 runs in our last 8 games. A 31/0 K/W is minor league stuff.

Buck Martinez finishes cancer treatment, returning to Blue Jays booth Tuesday Simon Sharkey-Gotlieb
Longtime Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez will return to the booth Tuesday following the completion of his cancer treatments.
Dan Shulman, his longtime partner on Blue Jays telecasts, said during Friday's broadcast that Martinez will work the entirety of the team's upcoming homestand at Rogers Centre.
Martinez, 73, took a leave of absence in April after being diagnosed with cancer. At the All-Star Game on Tuesday, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. paid tribute to both Martinez and Blue Jays studio host Jamie Campbell, who's battling leukemia, during the "Stand Up To Cancer" moment.
Martinez has been a mainstay on Blue Jays broadcasts for over 30 years, serving as both a play-by-play voice and color commentator. He also played for the team from 1981-86 and served as manager for parts of two seasons.

Jen McCaffrey @jcmccaffrey · 1h Devers felt right hamstring tightness in his last at-bat, wasn’t running well earlier in the game and isn’t feeling great today. Cora said it’s possible he goes on the IL.
Other injury updates: -Martinez is still dealing with back spasms but Cora's hopeful he'll be in the lineup Sunday or Monday -Hill has a bullpen tomorrow, could start a rehab assignment soon -Wacha has a sim game Monday -Kiké Hernandez is wokring out but no baseball activities
-Strahm's wrist is still stiff, but he's playing catch -Story is throwing/taking grounders, but no swings yet -Winckowski could return from the COVID IL Tuesday to start, but that's still TDB -Bello will officially start Sunday

Jason Mastrodonato @jmastrodonato · 1h It's trade season and this is the lineup the Red Sox are going with on July 23 against a divisional opponent that's three games ahead of them in the Wild Card hunt:
Duran CF, Vázquez C, Verdugo LF, Bogaerts SS, Cordero DH, Dalbec 1B, Bradley RF, Sánchez 2B, Downs 3B, Crawford P
Franchy Cordero is 0-for-17 with 15K in his last six games and is batting fifth as the Red Sox' DH in a key AL East matchup today.
It's not like 1B/DH haven't been available. Mets acquired Daniel Vogelbach. Mariners acquired Carlos Santana. Sox have BA's #11-ranked farm system.

Christopher Smith @smittyonmlb · 1h There’s a chance Rafael Devers could go on the IL because of a right hamstring. That’s why he is not in the Red Sox lineup Saturday. Felt it during Friday’s game. J.D. Martinez still experiencing back spasms. Cora said he could return to the lineup tomorrow or Monday
Red Sox' Matt Barnes feels good after a rehab outing with Worcester on Friday. He recorded 2 outs (two Ks) and allowed 2 hits and 1 BB. “At least stuff-wise it was good,” Cora said about Barnes, adding the righty’s fastball was at 94-95 mph. “Physically, he was good."
