I think Evans gets in next time. And I'm hoping one the nominating committees come to the realization that Reggie Smith has better career numbers than Evans did, as well as several other recent inductees. And I don't care for the logic of 'if so-and-so got in', but I think Tiant is better than Kaat. I am not a fan of the HOF voting process for many reasons. There are players who should be in that aren't, and vice versa.

I was there for the Hal of Fame Induction weekend and if any of my colleagues here haven't been to one---you need to go. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're getting another Red Sox inductee anytime soon but just to be there to take it all in is worth the trip. Our group had one helluva time. Glad you had a good time Fred. I've never been, but it sounds like a fun experience. Well, that's a little disappointing. The HOF is one of those places that defy description. And the town is one of those quaint little villages that Currier & Ives made a living off of. If you're a BB geek, I'd say it far more important than visiting all 30 BB cities.

There are players who should be in that aren't, and vice versa. The writers simply aren't capable of making these decisions. Just random bad voting decisions: In1994, 96.3% of the voters thought Simmons didn't belong. Now he is in. In 1980, 96.1% voted against Santo. In 2018, Scott Rolen, whom I consider a lock, received only 10.2% of the vote. Last year, he received 63.2%. So what happened in 4 years? Did he hit more HRs? Win more GGs? No. What happened is that some writers don't know much about him. It was only when they saw other writers voting for Rolen that they decided to do some research so as not to be embarrassed. And then there are always the random votes. Guys that no one remembers until someone mentions them, and say "oh yeah, I remember that guy". Does anyone remember a single thing about AJ Pierzinski? LaTroy Hawkins? JJ Putz? Placido Palanco? No, of course not. But some writers thought they were HOF players. Every writer should be mandated to write an article about they voted for, and voted against, to justify their idiocy.
