BOSTON -- Wednesday’s finale at Fenway Park was suspended due to heavy rains, leaving the Red Sox and Blue Jays to pick this one back up on Aug. 26.
That game will pick up from where this one was suspended, with one out for the Blue Jays in the top of the second inning, at 2:05 p.m. ET as the first part of a split doubleheader.
The game only reached the top of the second inning as the showers grew stronger, causing the umpires to wave the players off the field in the middle of Danny Jansen's at-bat. After a one-hour, 48-minute delay with water pooling on the field and no end in sight to the rain, the call was made.
On the Blue Jays’ side of things, Yariel Rodríguez was determined to keep rolling. When the delay hit, he went out to Toronto’s bullpen with the relievers and pitching coach Pete Walker, where he continued to simulate the game. It looked like Rodríguez was trying to slow play the situation in an effort to stay warm for a potential restart, but that never came.
Kutter Crawford was 23 pitches into his start for the Red Sox with two strikeouts and two walks before the game was called. Josh Winckowski, the Red Sox long man out of the bullpen, just gave them 91 pitches over six innings of relief Tuesday and is slated to start on Sunday, so they would have been stretched thin had the game resumed.
The Red Sox get to enjoy an off-day Thursday while the field dries out before they welcome the Padres for a three-game series. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, get right back into action Thursday night at home against the Yankees for the start of a four-game set.
Tickets for Wednesday night’s games can be used for admission to the resumed, 2:05 game on Aug. 26.

Bello has had a disappointing season, but we have to remember that he's still very inexperienced and is still developing. Despite the poor results this year, I think it was absolutely the right move to lock him up when they did. I am confident that Bello will figure it out soon. Obviously, not happy about losing the game, but it happens. Hopefully we win the series tonight and all will be good. Then why extend him?
It's the risk you take. And IMO, it's the way you almost have to do things these days because the cost of free agency is so outrageous. I'd be willing to bet that Bello ends up being a good deal in the long run.

Mac Cerullo @maccerullo This was an all-timer of a back-and-forth with Casas. Here's the exchange in its entirety. ![](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GRBryGMWgAA6EWF?format=jpg&name=small) LOL As I said before, Casas is not right.
