Jon Heyman @jonheyman · 30m All A’s tests have all been negative since the initial positive test. However, their games through Wednesday at Seattle have been postponed and word is Thursday’s game likely will be postponed as well. Athletics expected to resume play Friday vs. Padres Michael Bradburn 10h ago
The Oakland Athletics are expected to resume play Friday against the San Diego Padres, concluding what will be a five-day hiatus, according to a release obtained by Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
The A's postponed the final game of their series against the Houston Astros and also wound up moving their subsequent three-game set against the Seattle Mariners due to a positive COVID-19 test on the team on Aug. 28.
Since the positive test - which was revealed to be right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden, who told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle he was asymptomatic - the team has only had negative tests and has been permitted to resume their season.
At 22-12 the A's lead the American League West, entering Thursday with a two-game lead on the Astros.
The postponed contest against the Astros will be made up on Sept. 8, while the games against the Mariners have been rescheduled as parts of doubleheaders on Sept. 14 and 26.

Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports that Teoscar Hernandez is expected to miss "serious time" due to an injury in his rib area. Longley says that Hernandez hurt himself on a swing Saturday. He's set to undergo an MRI later Sunday, but it sounds like the Blue Jays are already resigned to putting him on the injured list. Hernandez is behind only Mike Trout with his 14 home runs this season, so this is a big loss for the Jays and for those that have the outfielder in fantasy leagues.
DFS Slant: With Hernandez vacating the lineup, Rowdy Tellez will move into the cleanup role. The left-handed slugger is batting .283/.354/.535 with seven home runs in 113 plate appearances. The Blue Jays are a top stacking option today at Fenway.
Tough blow for my money league. He lead my team, or was just about leading, every category, even SBs. Tough break for those rooting for the Jays to pass the NYY.

Rob Longley @longleysunsport · 6m Update on Hernandez: Oblique injury and he's still being evaluated. Need to wait for swelling to go down before deciding on Injury List assignment. #Bluejays
Bo Bichette is hitting in a sim game as DH in Rochester today. Not ready too play the field yet.

Giants Player Tests Positive For COVID-19; Friday, Saturday Games Vs. Padres Postponed
By Connor Byrne | September 11, 2020 at 8:49pm CDT
8:49pm: The league announced that it has also postponed Saturday’s game “out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and conduct tracing to be conducted.”
8:29pm: The Padres-Giants game in San Diego on Friday was postponed after one of San Francisco’s players tested positive for the coronavirus, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
“Tonight’s game was postponed due to a positive COVID test within the Giants organization,” the Padres stated. “MLB will announce additional information regarding the status of our series with San Francisco as soon as possible.”
The two teams played Thursday and are scheduled to end their series with a game Sunday, but it’s now unclear whether they’ll be able to take the field over the weekend. There are just two-plus weeks left in the season, and with the Padres and Giants vying for playoff spots, significant changes in their schedules could prove detrimental. Nevertheless, the league will have to make a decision that abides by health and safety protocols. MLB has already seen the virus force notable changes to its schedule, especially for the Marlins and Cardinals.

Bo Bichette (knee) is expected to be activated off the injured list on Saturday.
And it sounds like he will be in the Blue Jays' starting lineup on Saturday night against the Mets. The star shortstop has been on the IL since the middle of August because of a Grade 1 sprain of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. He had a terrific .361/.391/.672 batting line with five home runs, 13 RBI, four stolen bases, and 11 runs scored through his first 64 plate appearances this season.
