Santana lines out to start the game however, the Analytics team says he is a fast runner, they don;t know he rarely hits Verdugo follows with a 2b to CF This is 100% not on the analytics team. The analytics team knows better.
This decision is solely on Cora, who should also know better. The problem, imho, is that the lineup is perfect, 2-9. Just the right skills and balance, but lacking in any type of prototypical lead-off guy. I'm not sure moving the 2-9 to the 1-8 will make that much difference. Maybe Arroyo?

Bobby Dalbec becoming slugger Boston Red Sox envisioned? Rookie began choking up on bat and ‘just trying to have more fun’Updated Jun 19, 2021; Posted Jun 19, 2021 It's great to see Dalbec have a great game like he did last night. Hopefully, he is becoming the slugger the Red Sox envisioned, but it's far too soon to say that. At any rate, people have to have patience with him.
As far as choking up on the bat, I'm not sure why this has become such a lost art. Hardly anyone does it anymore. Situational hitting and hitting with 2 strikes, choke up on the bat, shorten your swing, and stop swinging for the fences. Baseball 101.
I'm not sure if it is a lost art, or underpublicized, or maybe ignored with the launch angle. It was either Carty or Garr (probably) who once said that he swings for the fences, until two strikes, and then he choked up to make contact.

First play of the game pop up that ends up being an E5 and good old Rex Hudler is trashing the Royals 3B for not having sunglasses or eyeblack on, on a sunny field.

Pete Abraham @peteabe · 58s 11-pitch at-bat for Dyson ends with a two-run double and the Royals have a 4-2 lead.
Eovaldi couldn't put him away. Foul off 5 pitches prior to the double.
