Bill Koch @billkoch25 · 5h Martin Perez -- 'It was a great game.'
'We didn't make one play, but I told Bogey I didn't have any problem.' #RedSox
Perez on the bullpen -- 'They've been attacking the zone. They throw quality pitches. That's perfect. That's what you need to win games.' #RedSox
Perez -- 'It's not just one player winning the game. I think it's everybody putting everything together to win it. That's what we did tonight.' #RedSox I'm beating a dead horse here, but if Perez is not in the dugout after he retires, I'll be disappointed.

Bill Koch @billkoch25 · 5h Hunter Renfroe -- 'It was pretty cool. I think the fans were in it the whole time.' #RedSox
Renfroe -- 'We've got a great group of guys. Our pitching staff is phenomenal. Our lineup is ridiculous.'
'You can't fake hard work, as well. I worked my butt off this offseason.' #RedSox
Renfroe on Pedroia -- 'He was a leader. He may not have been the biggest person on the field or off the field, but he was the biggest character in the clubhouse.' #RedSox
Renfroe -- 'Any time you can throw a guy out at the plate it's pretty special. It doesn't happen very often.'
(I think he's incorrect about this. The man has 11 assists to date this season.) #RedSox One more guy I would extend today. We have one more arb year left, and I'd be glad to buy out that, one more post-arb year, and an option. He looks like one of those 2.5-3.0 players that we usually lack. And good defense makes for a higher floor. Even with a little reversion, .240 and 25 HRs, with good defense is valuable.

Alex Speier @alexspeier · 6h Cora on Sox bullpen: Team felt RHPs would be important with all Yankees righties. Cora says Pérez ‘wasn’t that bad,’ but Team wanted RHPs against RHH-dominant Yankees.
Cora on the night at Fenway: ‘The fact that we ended it with a. 6-4-3, that was meant to be.’ I've never bothered to research this, but I don't think the RS faced a lefty batter last night. Maybe Kimmi has more insight into this, but from my perspective, I always preferred a RS lineup where you always have 5 righties available against a lefty, and 5 lefties available against a righty. Having -0- lefties in your lineup, when you're facing a parade of righty RPs, seems an issue.

Buck Showwater and the other goons at mlb network saying about the Phil Nevin sending Urshella last night was insanity
And did u know the Yankees this year are 2nd in MLB in running into outs?
They were over rated in Spring Training
and still are now. There was a discussion the other day about Boone v Girardi. I think both are overrated, but someone made the point that Girardi would never have put up with the sloppy baserunning.

In defense of the RS fielding, while I still think it is below average, particularly for IF hits allowed, one of the reasons we have more errors is that we have an outfield that will challenge every runner. We lead the league in OF assists by a wide margin. But the more you throw, the more errors you will make. That's the same as any position.
Right now, we have (BR) 23 assists against 9 errors. The league average is 10/6. Our marginal out put is 13 more assists against 3 more errors. That's a great percentage. In addition, teams know that we will throw, so I wonder how many more baserunners stop at 2nd or 3rd rather than challenge us. That doesn't really show in the boxscore.

if George was still kicking there would of been a mass firing.

Game 77: Yankees at Red Sox lineups and notesBy Amin Touri Globe Staff,Updated June 26, 2021, 11:05 a.m. After opening a weekend series with the Yankees on a high note, the Red Sox will look to clinch the series on Saturday with Nathan Eovaldi on the bump. Fenway Park saw its first sellout crowd on Friday night, with similar attendance likely on Saturday. Eovaldi is trying to bounce back from a rocky outing in Kansas City, having given up seven hits and four runs in four innings of work against the Royals last Sunday. Jordan Montgomery will take the ball for the Yankees, having posted a 4.13 ERA in six previous starts against Boston. Lineups YANKEES (40-35): 1. DJ LeMahieu (R) 2B 2. Aaron Judge (R) RF 3. Gary Sanchez (R) C 4. Giancarlo Stanton (R) DH 5. Luke Voit (R) 1B 6. Gio Urshela (R) 3B 7. Gleyber Torres (R) SS 8. Miguel Andujar (R) LF 9. Brett Gardner (L) CF Pitching: LHP Jordan Montgomery (3-1, 4.03 ERA) RED SOX (45-31): 1. Michael Chavis (R) 2B 2. Alex Verdugo (L) LF 3. J.D. Martinez (R) DH 4. Xander Bogaerts (R) SS 5. Rafael Devers (L) 3B 6. Hunter Renfroe (R) RF 7. Enrique Hernandez (R) CF 8. Bobby Dalbec (R) 1B 9. Notes: The Red Sox pitching staff quieted a Yankees lineup on Friday that had slugged 29 home runs in its previous 14 games. New York was held scoreless from the second inning on a day after an eight-run outburst at home against the Kansas City Royals ... Hirokazu Sawamura, Garrett Whitlock, Adam Ottavino, and Matt Barnes combined to hold New York to three hits over the final 5 1/3, striking out seven ... The Yankees are 17-22 against American League East opponents and now 5 games back of the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the division ... Eovaldi defeated the Yankees on June 4, when he held them to two runs (one earned) on eight hits in six innings. Lifetime, he is 2-2 with a 3.30 ERA in 10 games (seven starts) against his former club. Song of the Day: ABBA "Does Your Mother Know"www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkL7Fkigfn8

I would too and from everything I have read, he is a great dude in clubhouse 'You can't fake hard work, as well. I worked my butt off this offseason.'I love this for two reasons. First, yeah, you can't fake hard work, which was always my issue. Second, while some might see this as maybe bragging, I like it when veterans talk like that. It tells some of the younger guys that they too need to work their butt off. It is now a 12-month season.

if George was still kicking there would of been a mass firing.I don't miss George. I think he was good for the sport and good for the Yankees. I like that, but it did the RS no good. Imagine George, had the NYY gone 20 years with one WSC. He'd have left bodies laying in the hallway as a reminder to every other employee.

Pete Abraham @peteabe · 5m Wong is catching today because he caught Eovaldi during the offseason (they both live in the Houston area) and the Sox want to keep Vazquez with Rodriguez tomorrow.
