Run differential is starting to concern me a little with the other teams that concern me in the AL East
Red Sox are at Plus 51 Tampa Bay at Plus 79 And the Blue Jays a staggering Plus 95
Not many holes in the Jays line up, cause alot of damage, so Pivetta and the rest of the pitchers going this series better keep the walks to minimum.
And I have no idea how to attack Vlad. The protection he has in the line up is something else, but it has been a while since I have seen anyone with a command of a strike zone like he does.
The Sox have been a tad bit on the lucky side this season. According to Pythagoras, they really should be in 3rd place in the division. That said, the Sox are still a good team. The starting pitching will be so-so, they need to limit the damage. The offense needs to wake up.
This series is not going to be any easier. The Jays are a much better team than the Yankees are. The Jays pitching is middle of the road, have some nice pen arms but everyone knows their strength U can't make mistakes, give extra outs, or walk these guys the hitting in their line up is something else.....

Alex Cora explains Boston Red Sox lineup changes with Alex Verdugo moving to sixth; ‘We’ll see where it takes us’ Updated 5:06 PM; Today 5:05 PM
By Christopher Smith | csmith@masslive.com
BUFFALO — Red Sox manager Alex Cora reshuffled his lineup Monday against the Blue Jays.
He moved Alex Verdugo from second to sixth in the batting order and J.D. Martinez to fifth. Cora also has rookie Jarren Duran batting second.
Verdugo had batted second in all 82 of his other starts but he has struggled recently. He has slashed just .230/.310/.310/.619 with one homer, six doubles, 18 runs, nine RBIs, 12 walks and 23 strikeouts in 28 games (126 plate appearances) since June 12.
This marks the first time Martinez will bat fifth this season. The DH has batted cleanup 80 times and third seven times.
“I’m trying to maximize J.D.,” Cora explained. “Kind of like get him some traffic in front of him. There was an at-bat yesterday that caught my attention with Raffy (Devers). He had traffic and they didn’t attack him. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now — how we can re-arrange J.D., Xander and Raffy so we can maximize them. We haven’t been good offensively since Oakland. So why not? It gives Dugie (Verdugo) a breather, too, although he’s hitting behind J.D. But maybe a different at-bat. Second and third, one out, he hits a ground ball and we score a run and he feels better about himself. So we went with it.”
Xander Bogaerts will make his eighth start in the No. 3 hole. He has spent most of the season batting cleanup (80 starts) behind Martinez and in front of Devers at No. 5.
Devers will make his 12th start in the cleanup spot.
Cora said the quality of Duran’s at-bats makes him confident about batting the rookie second.
“Yesterday, in the first at-bat he was down 0-2 and he battled back and made it 3-2,” Cora said. “Some competitive pitches. And he laid off. In the end, he struck out, but I think he controls the strike zone, he knows what he wants to do.”
“I’m not saying this is the way we’re going to go the rest of the season but it just felt right today,” Cora added. “We’ll see where it takes us.”

Meh. A lot of articles about 8 games. 0.2 in one-run games and 0-2 in two-run games. That's what most hot and cold streaks are made of. A team could play 12 games, score and allow 60 runs. Your record should be 6-6, but if you win 3 one-run games, you're 9-3 and a world-beater.

Jon Couture @joncouture · 8h The last time #RedSox scored eight runs in the first inning, it was also against Toronto. Some guys named David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez hit home runs, and some other guys named Mookie Betts and Brock Holt had two hits each in the frame.
July 2, 2015.
So, Buffalo and Oakland are apparently the two parks without laundry carts.
(No one tell the A's. They'll spin it into why they have to go to Vegas.)
