Pete Abraham @peteabe · 6m If I told you on Opening Day that the #RedSox starters would have a 3.15 ERA after 28 games, you'd have surely guessed they'd be 18-10, not 10-18.
But:
27th in runs (3.32) 26th in OPS (.621) 28th in HRs (16) 3.0 runs per game at Fenway

Game 29: Red Sox try to avoid sweep against White Sox on Sunday morningUpdated May 8, 2022, 10 minutes ago After blowing another ninth-inning lead on Saturday, the Red Sox will look to stave off their first sweep of the season against the White Sox on Sunday morning. Michael Wacha will be tasked with keeping the brooms at bay, and he’s been Boston’s best starter this season. The righthander has allowed only four earned runs in 26 innings of work, a strong start to his one-year free agent deal. Related: Chaim Bloom is surprised the Red Sox have underperformed, but he’s not ready to hit panic button His counterpart has a more impressive résumé but has had a rockier start; former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel’s 8.40 ERA is largely inflated by a one-inning, 10-run shelling against Cleveland on April 20, but he’s struggled in three of his four starts this season. He allowed four runs in five innings in a loss to the Angels in his last outing. First pitch is at 11:35 a.m. as part of NBC and Peacock’s Sunday morning offerings this year. Lineups WHITE SOX (13-13): 1. Leury Garcia (S) RF 2. Luis Robert (R) CF 3. Jose Abreu (R) DH 4. Yasmani Grandal (S) 1B 5. Gavin Sheets (L) LF 6. Jake Burger (R) 3B 7. Reese McGuire (L) C 8. Josh Harrison (R) 2B 9. Danny Mendick (R) SS Pitching: LHP Dallas Keuchel (1-3, 8.40 ERA) RED SOX (10-18):
1. Enrique Hernandez (R) CF 2. Trevor Story (R) 2B 3. Rafael Devers (L) 3B 4. Xander Bogaerts (R) SS 5. J.D. Martinez (R) DH 6. Christian Vazquez (R) C 7. Alex Verdugo (L) LF 8. Bobby Dalbec (R) 1B 9. Christian Arroyo (R) RF Pitching: RHP Michael Wacha (3-0, 1.38 ERA) Time: 11:35 a.m. TV, radio: NBC, Peacock, WEEI-FM 93.7 White Sox vs. Wacha: Abreu 3-9, Anderson 1-6, Engel 1-1, Grandal 5-17, Harrison 2-21, Pollock 5-11, Robert 2-3 Red Sox vs. Keuchel: Arroyo 0-2, Bogaerts 3-11, Bradley Jr. 2-6, Dalbec 2-2, Devers 1-2, Hernández 1-3, Martinez 3-13, Plawecki 0-2, Verdugo 0-2, Vázquez 2-5 Stat of the day: The Red Sox’ save conversion percentage this season is 36 percent, worst in all of baseball.Notes: After Saturday’s loss, Boston is now 0-6 in extra-inning games. The White Sox had been 0-10 after trailing entering the eighth before rallying for the win ... Despite the difficulties of the bullpen, the starters have allowed two or fewer runs in 13 of the last 15 games ... Wacha dealt 5⅔ shutout innings Tuesday against the Angels. Just one baserunner reached scoring position against Wacha, who retired 15 of the 20 total batters he faced. Wacha hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of his five starts, the last three of which he has won. For the season, his .148 opponent’s batting average is the lowest in the American League ... Chicago is on a five-game winning streak, while the Red Sox have dropped their last four. Song of the Day- Pink Floyd- Motherwww.youtube.com/watch?v=9lCFaSL9aSE

Pete Abraham @peteabe · 1h And as the great Ralph Kiner once said on a Mets broadcast, "It's Mother's Day, so to all you mothers out there, Happy Birthday."
It's feels appropriate to be at a game today. Before I got my license, my mom used to drive me to the HS games I covered and wait in the car reading a book.
She's headed out to lunch today with two of the three grandkids. No book necessary.
Don't forgot to call your mom.

Pete Abraham @peteabe · 20m Apparently Wacha was scratched
Michael Wacha was sore on his right side after his last bullpen. MRI on Saturday was clean. Plan is to start him in Texas. He’s had oblique issues in the past so they’re being careful.

Pete Abraham @peteabe · 1m Story is 1 of his last 15 with 9 strikeouts.
42 ABs at Fenway, 19 Ks.
Thought his abbreviated spring training would take some toll early but nothing like this.
